…and other Animal Idioms to laugh at so we can get the “monkey off our back” during Covid season

Well my 90-year young dad and I are up to “no good/all good” again, with another take at idioms and colloquialisms that we have been collecting over the last year and never had time to publish until Covid-19 hit. We decided that it would be a good way to “Pass the Time”, which was the name of the first article, and the second focused on insults called “Are you calling me an IDIOM?!” For our third try, we picked out 8 of our favorite animal related idioms to help us get our “Ducks in a Row” peppered with a few #happy88 tips from your #positivelyopinionated co-author, because “there’s more than one way to skin a cat” and get through this pandemic without losing all 9 lives! And why 8? It’s a lucky number in Chinese, a homonym for “Good Fortune” which we wish on all our readers!

  1. There’s more than one way to skin a cat

There are many versions of this proverb, which suggests there are always several ways to do something. Charles Kingsley used one old British form in Westward Ho! in 1855: “there are more ways of killing a cat than choking it with cream”.
