8 Tips to Look Remotely Good

Well as much as we are hoping to be able to reach out and touch each other sooner rather than later, the new norm for communicating is happening online. If you are working remotely on Zoom or other technology, here are some tips for those who don’t like actually reading the direction manual.

  1. Don’t get caught with your pants down, like the news anchor guy

Coming to a work-from-home meeting looking sharp from head to toe, just in case there are back facing mirrors is always a good idea. First impressions while not always accurate are still first impressions. Bedhead, bathrobes and bathrooms are 3 B’s to avoid.

2. Do a background check…on your own background!

There’s a minute before you join a meeting where you can see yourself and your background prior to clicking Join with Video. If you haven’t showered and don’t want to be seen, then move the camera so that light is behind you and you will look like you are an angel. If you want to look interesting, turn the camera to a wall of diplomas or a book case where people can read your titles when they get bored with the meeting.
