You’re getting on my last nerve!

“I’m bored” “What’s for breakfast/snack/lunch/snack/dinner/dessert/snack?!!” “When can I see my friends?” “When is this going to end?” Sound familiar?

Many parents are finding themselves at their wits end and now having to add home-schooling to their already gigantic list of things to do. Workplaces are struggling to figure out how to move work onto virtual platforms as we continue to be rocked by the unplanned, unprepared for, unasked for disruption in everyone’s lives.

I could blame this virus on the parents who BC-19 (Time Before Covid-19) said “I wish I had more time with my kids” but I won’t because I wouldn’t have wished any of this on anyone. BUT, because I live in Best Case Scenario, it is possible to that this time of disruption could also disrupt old dysfunctional family patterns that plagued us BC-19.

What am I talking about? Well if you’ve heard me splattering hope and happiness from stage, you know that I am one of the 7 out of 10 of us who was raised in childhood trauma. My mom did the best she could based on the way she was raised…and ‘motivating’ me by telling me I was fat, ugly and clumsy accentuated by a strong hand that left its mark on me emotionally for decades. And I could have easily continued that legacy with my daughters had I not…
